Thursday nights are Open Stage Night from 7:30 to 10 pm. $3. Come to play or to listen! Doors open at 6:30pm, be there to put your name in the hat if you want to play! Two songs or eight minutes, whichever comes first!

Friday, March 1 ~ Carl Allen got caught up in the folk music of the early 1960's and has never left! Carl has done sound tracks for three Public Television documentaries (KCTS TV in Seattle), has been an Inquiring Mind Speaker for Humanities Washington for twelve years, and has toured the country with a first person characterization of Woody Guthrie, singing the Columbia River songs written by Woody in 1941. Doors open 7:15pm, music starts 8pm. $6.

Friday, March 2 ~ Ian Kristofer is a Singer, Songwriter, and Worship Leader who believes Love changes everything. Waking up in the late hours of the night to write down a song idea was common for many years of Ian's life, but playing an instrument and singing was a dream locked deep in a guarded heart. Ian has the ability to welcome all into an atmosphere of grace by using humor and vulnerability. His longing is to convey the finished work of Christ and what that means for our identity as Christians in how we live day to day. Through his music he shares the messiness of his own spiritual life on the journey that God has taken him on already. At 9:20pm: Karmann and Kompany is singer/songwriter Karmann Powell, leading the award winning band! Joining her is Joe Brokaw on the bass and Joe Stolpa. The band features a clean, clear sound with powerful female vocals and a fun, enjoyable stage presence. Song selections range from folk, country, gospel, bluegrass, blues and original compositions. Karmann is a “genetic” musician who has performed from a very young age. Her style is distinctly Americana and her dynamic vocals set her apart from the crowd. Karmann is also the worship leader at North Valley Christian Church (formerly Spur Cross Cowboy Church). Doors open 7:15pm, music starts 8pm. $6.

Friday, March 8 ~ Human Jones (To Be Confirmed!)~ Fresh from his appearance at the recent The Who concert (in the audience, not actually on stage) he is sure to treat us to some special tunes… At 8:50pm, Yusif & Sarah return to our stage, this time with a new CD, a debut, self-titled full-length album, a ten-track collection of songs that gravitate to lyrics about love, lost love, internal conflicts and struggles, and emotionally-charged anti-war anthems; at 9:20pm: Rob Marcus offers a fresh sound that touches on a remarkable array of influences. Inspired by his travels touring the US and abroad, ncorporating elements of folk, rock and world beats. As a self-taught musician, Rob Marcus’ unconventional melodies satisfy a desire for the new, while his introspective lyrics explore themes both intimate and universal. Music starts at 8pm, doors open 7:15pm. $5.

Saturday morning, March 9 ~ Guitar Workshop with Ryan Ayers: “Classical Techniques for Steel String Guitar Join guitarist Ryan Ayers as he explains how to transfer classical guitar techniques to fingerstyle and steel string contexts. All levels are welcome – Ryan is happy to work with you no matter your level of guitar expertise. Ryan has a background in classical guitar and a passion for steel strings; he will also discuss key strategies to develop a successful and efficient practice routine. The workshop begins at 10am and will run till about 12 Noon. $20 admission.

Saturday evening, March 9 ~ Ryan Ayers, a solo guitarist mixing together classical technique with accessible songs forms and structures. At 9:00pm: The Strand is a trio from the East Valley absolutely knocked out by Irish and Irish-American tunes and songs: they are Shannon Schumann on flute, whistles, harp, and vocals; Steve Pawlowski on vocals and guitar; and Rick Boyle on bouzouki, guitar, mandola, and vocals. They know a lot (and we mean A LOT!) of Irish tunes that will get you on the road for St. Patrick’s Day celebrating next week. Come prepared to sing along with The Strand, and maybe dance a jig or two? Doors open at 7:15pm. $6 admission.

This year’s beneficiaries of your donations are Wildhorse Ranch Rescue and The Fusion Foundation’s Peacewalker Society. Your donations of canned goods and personal care products (soaps, tooth care items, lotion) will also be accepted at the door. We’ll get them to local programs that can make good use of them! Clean out your pantry of those extra cans of tomatoes, beans and corn, and bring them down! We’ll give you a coupon good for $1 toward our offerings tonight! We will be in the large room. Doors open 7pm, and we’ll start about 7:30pm. Admission by suggested donation of $10, with a sliding scale as no one should stay away if your budget does not allow $10 – let us know when you arrive!

Saturday, March 16 ~ Bill and Kate Isles Concert Night Bill & Kate Isles are an acoustic singer/songwriter duo based in Duluth, Minnesota. Using a wide variety of musical styles, their performances carry audiences through a broad landscape of experiences from metaphorical worlds to small town family stories and to zany comedy.

Consummate performers, they are known for their catchy melodies and memorable songs. They have a deep-seated love for the audience, and each other, and it shines before, during, and after the performance. They tour nationally, presenting their profound songs for audiences large and small, from house concerts to festival stages and everything in between. Words like “Mesmerizing”, “Transcendent”, and even, “Hysterical” are common descriptions from audience reviews, and audience members feel that they are listening to stories of their own lives, told by two of their best friends. Doors open 7:15pm, music starts 8pm. $12 admission.

Wednesday, March 20 ~ Claude Bourbon In Concert Medieval and Spanish blues – This French-born guitarist grew up in Switzerland where for a time he was classically trained, but he soon felt the need to explore the guitar without the limitations of written music and delved headlong into folk, blues, jazz and rock music. Now based in the UK, he has become a world-renowned player, highly acclaimed for his finger-picking style—plucking, picking and strumming at such speed that his fingers seem to appear just as a blur. Claude’s performances are always special, and Fiddler’s Dream is grateful to be included each year on his international tour…Doors open 6:30pm, music starts 7:30pm; $10 at door.

Friday, March 22 ~ Tina Louise Barr and John are Hot Wire Tina Louise Barr is credited as the “powerhouse performer” of the autoharp. Tina has opened new expressways for the autoharp by her innovation of utilizing concise melody with high-geared rhythm. Tina’s music features a variety of lively styles, ranging anywhere from traditional folk, country, and bluegrass to Celtic, Latin, western swing, blues, or rock and roll. One colorful introduction made is, “Fasten your seat belt, Tina Louise Barr doesn’t do any of that twinkle-toes stuff on the autoharp”. At 9:20pm: Greenwood Sidee, founded in 2008, has won numerous awards throughout Arizona, including First Place two years in a row at the Wickenburg Bluegrass Festival. Classically trained violinist Giselle Lee took up fiddle and Clawhammer banjo after falling in love with Old Time music, and has won awards in both fiddle and banjo competitions. Mark Hickler grew up in a musical family surrounded by the eclectic sounds of jazz, blues, and old time music. Elisia Simmons is a metalsmith, musician, and book enthusiast; she sings both lead vocal and harmony, plays the Appalachian Dulcimer, and dabbles with a few other instruments. Francisco Briseno, multi-instrumentalist, supports Greenwood Sidee as a bass player and a three finger style banjo player. Greenwood Sidee also enjoys performing the work of modern artists such as Regina Spektor and Bob Dylan. Doors open at 7:15pm. Music starts 8pm. $6.

Saturday, March 23 ~ Dale Long, Sr. is a left-handed dyslexic musician with A.D.D. You’re sure to hear some Beatles and much more from this guitar playing artiste. At 8:50pm, Nehemiah 4:20 plays Gospel and traditional country/bluegrass music. They view their music as a ministry, and believe that a part of their musical mission is to bring joy and laughter to the hearts and faces of those who listen to their music. At 9:45pm, The Real Deal originated in 2008 with best friends Carlos Saldana, Neil Delacruz, and Francsico Briseno. They all grew up musically in the Jam Pak Blues 'N' Grass Neighborhood Band founded by Anni and Vincent Beach in Chandler, Arizona. There have been some changes, but their passion remains music, bluegrass specifically, with a bit of a twist on the traditional. Doors open 7:15pm, music begins 8pm. $5.

Friday, March 29 ~ Rick Nestler, singer and a songwriter, can truly bring songs to life. He has appeared at coffeehouses, folk festivals, house concerts and museums across the USA. He has learned some of his most effective performance techniques playing in low waterfront dives and institutions of higher learning from St. Thomas to Toronto, California to New York and everywhere in between. He is always happy to share his music of the sea and travels! At 9:20pm, Alice Wallace and Ryan Donohue are on tour, with Alice on guitar and vocals and Ryan on upright bass, harmonica and vocals. Their pairing perfectly complements Alice’s original songs, as well as their take on classic blues, folk and country tunes. With a style that falls somewhere between the alt-country crooning of Emmylou Harris and the bluesy timbre of Bonnie Raitt, Alice draws from the simple and honest folk melodies she learned growing up when crafting her songs about life, love and the pursuit of that ever-elusive happiness.... Doors open at 7:15pm. Music starts 8pm. $6.

Saturday night, March 30 ~ Joe Bethancourt and Arizona Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and concert night! Long-time Valley musician Joe Bethancourt will be formally inducted into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame this evening! It’s been a long time coming. Joe is unusual for this day and age, perhaps because he has devoted himself to the music in which he was raised: the music of the Southern Appalachian and Ozark Mountains of America. In this, he follows the tradition established by such sterling performers as Grandpa Jones, Doc Watson, Uncle Dave Macon, and others of the "Old Timey" Country Music era. His blending of the music of his roots with his love of Arizona history and the Old West makes for an interesting and amazing combination. Joe will perform many of your favorites throughout the evening, and the induction ceremony will take place about halfway through the night. We will be in the large room! Doors open 6:15pm, music starts 7pm. $10.

Friday, April 5 ~ Four Shillings Short has been touring in the US and Ireland since 1997, performing a variety of traditional, original and contemporary music on over 20 instruments. In a single night, Four Shillings Short perform Traditional Irish and Scottish songs, tunes and airs, Indian Ragas, Folk

Ballads, Old-Time songs, Medieval and Renaissance instrumentals and a cappella numbers as well as contemporary folk and original compositions. Join Scotty Spenner on guitar, slide guitar, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica, vocals; Keith Rogers on guitar, harmonica, vocals; and Jeff Farias on stand-up bass, guitar, and vocals, for a fun and high energy set! At 9:20pm: Tammy Patrick has a new CD out, come help her celebrate! Patrick grew up on the prairies of the Midwest and drew early musical inspiration from her grandfather, who would sing Depression-era ballads. Before touring and recording with New York-based folk rockers the Dorkestra, Patrick was a member of a politically inclined rock band in college called the Icemakers of the Revolution. After the Dorkestra disbanded in 1996, Tammy and several ex-members of that group formed the Bathtub Virgins, whose debut, Summertime, was released shortly afterward. Patrick and her partner/bass player/producer Jeff Farias moved to Phoenix in 1998 and started their own recording studio, Gecko Park, where they continue to record with some of the finest Roots musicians the Southwest has to offer. Doors open at 7:15pm, music starts 8pm. $8.

Saturday night, April 20 ~ Renee Blue OConnell got her start as a professional musician over 30 years ago accompanying jazz and wedding singers in Chicago. Her guitar work exemplifies the influence of some interesting guitarists she has studied with, most notably Robert Fripp & Ralph Towner. Her lyrics show a unique perspective gained from working with writers as diverse and visionary as Beat poet Allen Ginsberg and cartoonist Lynda Barry. Her voice has been described as a cross between Nanci Griffith and Billie Holiday. At 9:20pm: Shaun Peace ~ Mixing the roots of rock n roll, blues, and alternative music, Shaun Peace has a uniquely blended sound of acoustic and electric music that has been cultivating since his days as a young boy. Born in Texas, but moving several times before the age of 5, he landed in Virginia and was raised on rock n roll. He picked up the guitar at age 12 and caught on very quickly. As an adult he has been in several bands in the Virginia area, and he records music in studios all over the world. He has made quite an impression on ACDC front-man Brian Johnson who is a family friend and is helping get his music out to the masses. With music being his deepest passion, he just wants people to enjoy it and spread it on for others to enjoy. ‘spread PEACE.’ Doors open at 7:15pm, music starts 8pm. $8.

Friday, April 26 ~ Jen Hajj has a voice you won’t forget. Jen is a scientist as well as a songwriter. In fact, her award winning song, "Raptor Bird" is about the ecology of birds of prey. Wanting to pursue her love of the music, she picked up the guitar. She honed her skill in bluegrass jams, and later took lessons to fill in the gaps and learn the styles that she found most interesting. She attended folk and bluegrass festivals and camps and met extraordinary folks who make a living doing music. People like Cosy Sheridan, Kate MacLeod, Brooks Williams, Randall Williams, Joe Jencks: these amazing artists became her mentors and models for success.
