SUMMARY:Eric Ramsey & Mark Bishop Evans
DESCRIPTION:Eric Ramsey and Mark Bishop Evans will be sharing the evening with originals, classic covers, Blues, folk, and who knows what else these two fine musicians have in store! \nArizona Blues Hall Of Famer Eric Ramsey is the Winner of the International Blues Challenge as well as the Memphis Cigar Box Guitar Award for the outstanding guitarist in the Solo/Duo Category. He’s a three time Champion of the Phoenix Blues Society’s Blues Showdown, a two time Finalist at the Telluride Blues Challenge. He’s a Winner of the Stefan George Memorial Songwriting Contest sponsored by the Tucson Folk Festival, Winner of the Peoples’ Choice Award at the Wildflower Arts and Music Festival, a Finalist in the Al Johnson Songwriting Competition, and has been tapped for the prestigious Songwriter’s Showcase produced by Tempe Center for the Arts and filmed for PBS distribution. He’s been a 4x featured performer at the Dripping Springs (TX) Songwriter’s Festival, has garnered numerous accolades for his songwriting, and performs at concerts and festivals nationwide. \nEric is a perennial favorite on the Folk and Blues Festival circuits, not only for his dynamic, engaging performances but for his open tuning and slide guitar workshops as well. With soaring vocals and organic arrangements, Eric’s original compositions reflect his musical influences, but come from a place all their own. He writes from experience about the human condition – stark, at times sensitive, at times humorous, always thought-provoking. His arrangements and delivery encompass a spectrum of styles, from delicate finger-picking to raucous, bluesy bottleneck slide.\nMark grew up in southern California where his major musical influences were Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary and most all of the folk, folk rock and beach music of the early sixties. Originally a trumpet player, his desire to sing caused the transition to guitar in his early teens. Listening and playing the folk and protest music of the late sixties inspired him to begin writing his own songs. His musical migration has taken him through folk rock, pop, country, gospel and back to folk where it all began. It has been noted that he has a way with words and melodies, bringing them together in meaningful combinations intended to make you think and feel and even sing along. His music is an intriguing blend of folk, folk rock and ballads, lyrically rich in emotional content and melodically comfortable. It is commonly called “close to the bone.” Mark moved to north of Boston in the early 90’s and spent a considerable time in the contemporary Christian, Folk and Singer/Songwriter circles learning and sharing his gifts. At the end of 2021 he moved back West and now resides in the Phoenix Arizona area, where he continues to explore the depths of the human condition, and how to meaningfully express that musically.\nWe will have beverage options galore! And you KNOW the coffee will be fabulous! Beverages available (coffee, teas, Boxed Water, sodas are $3), and KN95+ masks are available at the venue at no charge. \n
