Phoenix Folklore Friday: Earth
Join us for a traditional Storytelling Evening curated by Chrissy Dart. April’s theme is Earth! Phoenix Folklore Friday will be exploring how we live with the Earth. April is Earth Month. The Earth is our home. The Earth sustains us. To many, the Earth is both Mother and Sister. Fundamentally, we are Earth. We are made of the Earth. How we interact with the Earth just might reflect how we interact with others and visa-versa. Come explore the topic of Earth!
“I would like you to show me, if you can, where the line can be drawn between an organism and it’s environment. The environment is in you. It’s passing through you. You’re breathing it in and out. You and every other creature.” ~ Wendell Berry
Join us for an evening of traditional stories and songs that allow for a pause to reconnect with each other, to honor the past, and to reawaken our kinship with nature. The evening commences at 7:30pm. There usually is a break between the two hours to grab a drink and a snack, unless we have some cancellations. Then we will run the session straight through.
As always, the skill of the oral storyteller will ensure that the stories are appropriate for the audience.
Wishing you all the best,
Chrissy and Rachelle Dart
P.S. We are looking for a teller or two and a musical offering. If you are interested, please reach out via email at phxfolklore@gmail.com
